2025 Spring Sight Translation Boot Camp
Sight translation is one of the most common interpreting modes used in court. The court interpreters are required to sight translate all sorts of legal documents, including judgements, sentencing sheets, waiver and plea forms, and stipulations. The court Interpreter must read the written document while delivering a verbal rendition in the target language, all in a timely manner. Sight translation is part of the state certification exam.
During the class, you will have the opportunity to practice using a wide variety of legal materials. You will learn:
• The fundamentals of sight translation;
• How to deliver your translation accurately at a steady pace;
• Strategies for the sight translation portion of the state certification exam.
The spring camp is open to students who intend to take the state certification oral exam in 2025. The next camp will be held in September 2025 and is open to students planning to take the exam in 2026.
We offer small class setting, so that every student gets enough attention. Classes will form with as little as three students. Spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
