Advanced Court Interpreting Practicum is a practice-intensive program designed for interpreters who have completed foundational training and are ready to move beyond classroom learning into applied, professional-level court interpreting. Building on the skills developed in the Master Class, this practicum focuses on simulating real courtroom scenarios and interpreting demands across a wide range of case types and court procedures, including criminal, civil, and procedural contexts. Through structured practice and guided analysis, students gain a deeper understanding of how interpreting functions in real court settings and how professional interpreters adapt to varying legal environments.
The program places strong emphasis on hands-on application. Students will practice sight translation, consecutive interpreting, and simultaneous interpreting using realistic scenarios and materials. By working through a wide range of common case types, students strengthen their overall interpreting skills, expand their legal knowledge, and gain practical experience that prepares them for both court interpreting work and state certification exams.
Throughout the practicum, instructors provide targeted feedback to help students identify weaknesses, integrate skills across modes, and strengthen overall interpreting performance. By the end of the course, participants will have developed greater confidence, professional awareness, and practical readiness for both court interpreting career and state court interpreter certification exams. This practicum serves as a critical bridge between interpreting study and real-world application, helping interpreters transition from “trained” to professionally prepared.

The Advanced Court Interpreting Practicum begins on April 25, 2026, and meets weekly on Saturdays. This program consists of 12 instructional units, with each unit meeting for 2.5 hours. Each unit focuses on one specific case type or court procedure and this class will cover interpreting work commonly encountered in criminal cases, civil cases, jury trials, and depositions.
The course is structured as a practice-centered program, designed to immerse students in realistic court interpreting scenarios across a range of case types and procedural contexts.

Tracy, Jessie, and Mia have all worked in the court interpreting field for many years and have a proven record of success in preparing students for certification exams. As former instructors in the UCLA Extension Court Interpreting Program, they have guided numerous students to pass the California Court Interpreter Exam year after year.
Our instructors not only provide systematic and rigorous in-class training but also share invaluable professional insights and first-hand industry experience to help students excel both in their studies and future careers.
Our classes are conducted online via Zoom, allowing you to receive top-quality, instructor-led training from the comfort of your home. No commute, no boundaries. You are just one click away from advancing your interpreting career.
We offer small class setting, so that every student gets enough attention. Classes will form with as little as three students. Spots are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Developing strong court interpreting skills is a gradual, long-term process. At the intermediate level, progress comes not only from technique training, but also from the continuous strengthening of language proficiency and legal knowledge.
We encourage students to maintain a consistent daily practice routine, review class materials regularly, and stay engaged with legal language in both languages. Steady effort and thoughtful practice over time will lead to greater confidence, accuracy, and professional readiness.
We also accept Zelle. You can also send payment to 213-656-5996 (registered under The Chinese Court Interpreters).
